Celestun...

Ah, Celestun. There are not many places on this planet I enjoy more than Celestun. Awesome beaches, great sea food, lots of beautiful birds... what is not to like? Last week my parents, Jeanette, Emma and I took up an invitation by Valerie Pickles to visit her new condo in Celestun for the day. Emma had a great time frolicking in the ocean with her grand parents and Valerie prepared a really nice meal for us. It was a really nice and relaxing day. I am thinking about taking my bike up to Celestun during the summer and exploring a bit more of the coast... I hear nearby Isla Arena in Campeche is really beautiful.. Chacmultun and Limones

It has been quite a few months since I last posted and much has happened since then! Jeanette, Emma and I are more settled in to our life in Mérida and although the heat over these past few weeks has been just awful, over all things have been going quite well. I have been away on a couple business trips here and there, but for the most part I have been quite content staying put in Mérida. Between my job and Emma there have not exactly been tons of opportunities to get out and do tons of photography but in the past few weeks I have managed to get away a little here and there. This short (very short) series of photos are from the archaeological site of Chacmultun (in the Puuc) and Limones (in southern Quintana Roo). I have posted photos of Chacmultun before, but the pyramid at Limones (and yes there only is one) is new to me. I noticed it just off the highway on my way to Chetumal and cold not help pulling over and climbing it. Its really quite an amazing site from the highway. It also does not hurt that locals have set up a little eatery right behind the pyramid... as they say "solo en Mexico!". Unfortunately all other structures which would have conformed the plaza have been destroyed, but the arquitectural style is very similar to that of nearby Chacchoben. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos!

Back home!

After almost two years of living in the Norwegian arctic my family and I have moved back to the sunny Yucatan. As with any big move I am sure we will have no shortage of challenges but I have to say that I am feeling really well and am excited about the future. Things have been quite busy so I have not had that many opportunities to get out there and shoot, but hopefully that will be changing soon. I also plan to start doing aerial, event, architectural and portrait photography again in the peninsula, so if you need any photographic work done please send me a email at carlos.rosado@gmail.com

Goodbye Finnmark!

After a year and a half of life up in the Arctic it is time for Jeanette, Emma and I to leave Finnmark. Time sure flies! when we first arrived in Vadsø Emma was just a little baby, now she a is a energetic fun loving toddler (and quite the handful). Our time up in the far north has had its fair share of challenges, but it has also given all three of us the opportunity to meet many wonderful people and to see many amazing things. I have the feeling that for the rest of my life when ever I see a clear sky full of starts I will begin searching for the northern lights and think of our time in the Arctic. Tomorrow we will be on our way to Moss for Christmas and after that it is back to Yucatan. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Clear Skies, bright lights!

Well October has come and gone and now we find ourselves well in to November, Where has the time gone eh? Anyway we have been having a fairly mild winter so far... I think the coldest its been is around -10 or so. Not that I am complaining mind you... besides it has made trekking out to the tundra to shoot the Northern Lights all that much easier and enjoyable. I have also been taking quite a bit of time-lapse footage of the Northern Lights and plan to release some videos fairly soon. Anyway I am just trying to enjoy what is left of our time in Finnmark and getting ready for all the big changes coming along Hope you enjoy the photos.

Northern Lights Galore!

The days up here in the Norwegian Arctic continue to get shorter and colder. However there is of course a silver lining... or more like a greenish purple lining. Yes the Northern Lights are here with a vengeance and I have been doing my best to get out and enjoy them when ever the weather allows. One of the benefits of living about the 71st parallel is that as long as the skies are clearish and there is at least a little bit of solar activity you are almost certain to get a good view of the Northern Lights. Before moving up to Finnmark I had only ever seen this phenomena a couple of times; once in British Columbia and once just outside of Quebec city. I cant help but think that once we move south to the Yucatan I am unlikely to see them again in a very long time and possibly ever... So I am really doing all I can to get as much in as I can. In any case, I hope you enjoy the photos.

Busy times in the far north...

Yikes, the past month or so sure has been busy. With a family emergency requiring travel down to Oslo, starting a new job and settling in to winter... things sure have been hectic. As a result I have not been getting out and taking photos / working on my personal projects as much as I would like... but now that routine is starting to settle in I hope that will change. Still, things are going well... both Jeanette and I are happy with our jobs, Emma is loving her kindergarten... so all and all I guess I really cant complain. In any case I hope you enjoy the photos :)
